In the end it's about making the roads safer, and that's something worth working for

With a life-long career in IT, Alan has worked in transport and control system projects since 1993 in a variety of roles across management, analysis, development, and operations. He has managed, designed and delivered complex operational traffic management solutions. These experiences combine in a rare ability to know what is needed on the ground coupled with the ability to design and deliver the solution to achieve the benefits.

He has worked with National Highways, Rijkswaterstaat and Transport Infrastructure Ireland on the operational design of incident and traffic management systems. This included designing and developing incident response algorithms to improve response times and driver alerts.

He has worked with the VESOS team in the development of a strong business case for the adoption of data-led eCall in National Highways, and is an contributory author to the SHADAR Stopped Vehicle Detection research paper for the European Union. Alan also developed the TeCall concept as a outcome of the eCall collaboration with the VESOS team.
