Andy’s background has been in law enforcement with over 30 years experience, primarily in road policing and road death investigation.

He was part of the UK national police team to explore Intelligent Transport Systems and Services especially for the emergency services, and provide these functions across Europe.

He was part of the original European team to pen the specifications for eCall based on 112. From 2011 Andy was the project coordinator for a series of projects sponsored by the European Commission which first established the principles for the operational deployment of eCall, followed by the deployment of eCall. This included overseeing the necessary technical and operational considerations for all member states in Europe.

Andy is the UK member of CEN 278 Working Group 15 responsible for the continued development of standards for eCall in Europe.

He is a former Vice President of British APCO which is a not for profit organisation to support the development of effective public safety professionals by providing opportunities for members to exchange information, ideas and experiences, and to develop new skills and expertise.

He is recognised globally as a subject matter expert in eCall and the operational response to eCall.
